С ходу при первом прослушивании особенно порадовал старый новый трек от Nostalgie Eternelle под названием Too Late to be Sad. Отдельно он выложен на том же саундклауде, датирован 1990-м годом, но в фактических дискографиях не значится. Надеюсь, когда-нибудь войдет в какой-нибудь симпатичный релиз или компиляцию.

(ru) Краткость - сестра таланта. Сперва их звучание может показаться слишком уж примитивным и сумбурным, но первое впечатление далеко не всегда самое правильное. Полное представление о творческой концепции коллектива можно получить после прочтения интервью, ссылка на которое приведена ниже.
Искренний минимализм "как он есть" и каким (на мой взгляд) он собственно должен быть вкупе с болезненно-алкогольным методом творить породили столь великолепные альбомы.

Strange Walls, a New York trio consisting of Jon Vomit, Dan Drogynous and Danya Yushkov has a lot to offer in the realms of those to do not fear to tread off the beaten path.
This music project is just the thing for fans of tear garden, the legendary pink dots and anyone seeking a mellow and obscure sound scape experience. 
It's intriguing with it's raw punk-ish attitude and melancholy stripped down electronic devises.
  This band is quite active liveand I could only wish I had the time for a vacation to New York to see them, they provide several live videos (over 13)on their myspace page and it appears not only do they capture the essence of old school post punk obscurities in their records but can deliver this nostalgia and pleasure on stage in variations of mellow minimalistic-analog-beepy-keyboard goodness to drunken pirate dirty mouthed punks. I simply love it.
 They offertheir album "Home Is Where You Hang Yourself" to those who take the time to email band member Jon Vomit and send him 5 bucks to mail it to you, totally worth it in my book.

"Эта история берет свое начало в Перми, где родился Даня Юшков (Danya Yushkov). В начале девяностых одиннадцатилетний Даня переехал в Нью Йорк. Там он встретил Стива (Steve Kurlat), с которым, вдохновленный панк - движением, создал свою первую группу в 1997. «Это не была по-настоящему хорошая музыка, она была ужасна. Мы были просто шумящими детьми». Как-то друг Стива Юрий(Yuri Khorodzie) посетил репетицию молодой группы и решил присоединиться к ним на басу. Он совсем не умел играть, но, как это обычно бывает, в то время это не имело большого значения. Однако, несколько лет спустя развитие группы зашло в тупик, и она распалась. После распада группы Даня сильно увлекся музыкой с более мрачным и эксцентричным звучанием, а именно, творчеством таких групп как “Virgin Prunes”, “Sex Gang Children”, “Clan Of Xymox”, “The Legendary Pink Dots”, “Tom Waits”. Вдохновленный их музыкой, он искал музыкантов, чтобы реализовать свои новые идеи. Идея была принята с энтузиазмом, так как до этого студийные партии клавиш исполнял Даня. Но на концерте он не мог справиться с гитарой, вокалом и клавишами одновременно. Кира обновила клавишные партии, добавив собственные мелодии, которые не были прочувствованы всем коллективом. Вместе они закончили запись материала для альбома “Ugly Little Children”. Тем временем, напряжение в группе росло. Юрию и Стиву категорически не нравились перемены, которые происходили в группе. Они часто отвергали необычные вокальные партии, а так же, множество исходящих от Дани и Киры идей, которые отклонялись от привычного для них звучания. Разрыв был лишь вопросом времени. Вскоре группа оказалась в “замороженном” состоянии. Считая себя неспособными к дальнейшему совместному творчеству, музыканты согласились лишь давать концерты в полном составе, если их куда-либо пригласят выступать. Но совсем недавно, группа, уже без Юрия, вновь решила продолжить совместное творчество, невзирая на все различия. Стив, Даня и Кира записали новую песню под названием ”Figment of Imagination”. После нескольких секунд прослушивания этой композиции, слушатель может узнать манеру игры Стива, пожалуй, одну из самых характерных черт группы. В следующие шесть минут песня может сильно удивить. Звук стал легче и светлее, вокал Дани кажется более мелодичным…. В эти минуты группа может показаться более мэйнстримовой, нежели она есть на самом деле. Но следующая часть песни, которая начинается после нескольких секунд тишины, развеивает все сомнения. Эта часть наполнена энергий и того характерного для Valiant to Vile цинизма. Эта часть ясно показывает, что тот «свет» исходит из глубин чувств. На подобии того состояния, когда человек становится выше собственных чувств и эмоций, и обретает ясный взгляд сквозь их призму. "This story began in the small Russian town called Perm where Danya Yushkov was born. In the beginning of the 90’s, 11 year old Danya moved to New York City. There he met Steve Kurlat and, inspired by the punk movement, they created their first band in 1997. «It wasn’t really good music, it was terrible. We were just kids making noise.» One time, Steve’s friend Yuri Khorodzie visited their rehearsal and decided to join them on bass. He couldn’t play at all, but as it usually is, it didn’t matter much for that period. However a few years later, the band development reached a deadlock and the band broke up.

After that, Danya had been strongly fascinated with the music of a more obscure and darker sound, including bands such as Virgin Prunes, Sex Gang Children, Legendary Pink Dots, Tom Waits, Clan Of Xymox, etc. Infused with their works, he was looking for musicians to realize his new ideas. He got together one night with Steve and Yuri, since he had moved back into their neighborhood, and they suggested to him to play together again despite the fact that they didn’t have many common views on music. «They wanted rock, I hated rock.» Aside from the differences, the union was keeping itself alive for a rather long time. Shortly after reconnecting, the band which was now called Valiant to Vile recorded the songs «Veils Of Ashes,» «All That Was Human,» «Knife,» and «Carousel Days.»

During the summer of 2007 keyboardist Kira Hosbein attended a Valiant to Vile show and, impressed by the music, decided to join them, since Danya originally recorded the keyboard parts but was unable to play them live, being busy with the guitar and vocals. Kira renewed the old keyboard lines by adding her own diverse melodies that were not previously conceived by the band. The renewed line up quickly finished recording the album Ugly Little Children. However the tension in the band was building up. Yuri and Steve absolutely didn’t like the changes the band went through. They often rejected a lot of the outlandish vocals or new ideas coming from Danya and Kira that would stray from sounds they were familiar and comfortable with. Rupture was only a question of time. Soon the band came to such frequent disagreement over this evolution that progress was stunted. They thought that since they were unable to find compromises when it came to recent joint creations, making new songs in the project would have to be put on hold. But just recently the band, now without Yuri, put aside their musical differences and decided to continue a creative process together. Steve, Danya and Kira recorded a new song, called ‘Figment of Imagination’. After a few seconds of listening to this song, a listener can recognize Steve’s manner of playing. It’s probably one of the most recognizable things in Valiant to Vile. The next six minutes of the song can really astonish. The sound became more light and clear, Danya’s vocals seem more melodic… probably in these minutes the band can be conceived as more mainstream than it actually is. But the next part of the song which begins after a few seconds of silence breaks all doubts. This part is filled with energy and that Valiant to Vile cynicism. It shows that this ‘lightness’ actually comes from the depths of feelings. Like that condition when a person is above his feelings and emotions. When they become absolutely clear…. So it’s difficult to say, according just to one song, what Valiant to Vile will be in the future. I hope it won’t loose its individuality anyway."... (c) Nattsol

Je déteste le rock!»). Malgré leurs différences, la mayonnaise prit. Quelque temps plus tard, le groupe , désormais appelé Valiant To Vile, enregistra des morceaux telles que "Veils Of Ashes", «All That Was Human,» «Knife,» and «Carousel Days». 

Durant l'été 2007 la claviériste Kira Hosbein assista à un de leur concert et fût impressionnée par leur prestation et décida de rejoindre le groupe. L'idée fût acceptée car Danya ,qui avait composé et enregistré les parties de claviers, ne pouvait pas les jouer sur scène, déjà occuppé par la guitare et le chant. Keira renouvela les lignes de synthé en y ajoutant de nouvelles mélodies, ce qui n'étaient pas du gout de tout le monde.

Ensemble, ils achevèrent l'enregistrement de l'album "Ugly Little Children". Pendant ce temps, la tension dans le groupe s'était développé. Yuri et Steve catégoriquement n'aimaient pas les changements survenus dans la bande. Ils rejetaient souvent les manières de chanter inhabituelles ou les nombreuses idées émanant de Dani et Kira, qui s'écartaient des sentiers battus. La rupture était seulement une question de temps. Bientôt, le groupe se trouvait dans un état "gelé". Se considérant comme incapables de nouveaux projets en commun, les musiciens acceptèrent seulement de donner des concerts de leur vieux répertoire si ils étaient invités à jouer.

Mais récemment, le groupe sans Yuri, a encore une fois décidé de reprendre le processus créatif, malgré toutes les différences d'opinions et de goût. Steve, Daniel et Cyrus ont enregistré une nouvelle chanson intitulée "Figment of Imagination". Après quelques secondes d'écoute de cette chanson, l'auditeur peut reconnaitre la manière de jouer de Steve, peut-être, l'un des traits les plus caractéristiques du groupe. Durant les six minutes suivantes, le morceau peut être très surprenant. Le son est devenu plus léger et plus clair, le chant de chant Dani semble plus mélodiques .... Dans ces moments, Valiant To Vile semble plus commercial qu'il ne l'est réellement. Mais la partie suivante, qui commence après quelques secondes de silence, dissipe tous les doutes. Cette partie est pleine d'énergie et d'un cynisme caractéristique au groupe. Ce passage montre clairement que la «lumière» jaillit à travers leur prisme des tréfonds obscures de l'âme. Comme l'état de stase d'un être qui surpasse ses sentiments et émotions. Difficile à dire, en se concentrant sur une seule chanson, ce qu'il adviendra de Valiant To Vile. "...летом 2008 проект Watching Opossums, чье название до сих пор остается для меня загадкой, начал свое существование. Группа, представляющая собой дуэт Дани (гитара, бас, ударные, вокал) и Киры (клавиши, ударные, вокал), достаточно быстро записала 12 песен для своего будущего альбома, пока не имеющего названия и дала некоторое количество концертов. Трудно дать стилевую характеристику этому проекту. Единственное, что можно сказать с уверенностью, что музыка, по сравнению с Valiant To Vile стала более экспериментальной. Их песни могут сочетать в себе множество стилей, как все вместе, так и поочередно. Достаточно типичный дезрок может внезапно “покрываться” нойзовым звуковым полотном, и после этого вновь “выплывать” из него. Так же музыка может становиться совершенно искусственной, оставаясь при этом насыщенной эмоциями. Некоторые песни имеют достаточно явные фолк оттенки. Характер песен так же совершенно непредсказуем. The only thing I can say is that the music became more experimental in comparison with Valiant to Vile. The songs combine many different styles altogether or one after another. Rather typical deathrock sound can be suddenly covered by a noise sound canvas and then sail out of it again. In addition the music can become absolutely unnatural and stay filled with emotions as well. Some songs have typical folk motives. The song character is absolutely unpredictable too. Assez rapidement de nouvelles chansons furent enregistrées et compilées sur un album de 12 titres. Dans le lot on retrouve certaines œuvres antérieures à Valiant To Vile créées par Danya. (ru) еще один проект Дани и Киры, на мой субъективный взгляд - лучший. теперь охарактеризовать звучание становится практически невозможным. первое что приходит в голову - разумеется эксперементал.. и на этом мысль останавливается. одно ясно - каждый последующий проект на порядок лучше и качественнее предыдущего. что же будет дальше?
